Founding Well 🌱

Most startup writing focuses on tactics, deliverables, measurables, and returns. Founding Well is about what it feels like to build a company as a human being. We share one honest founder story per month. Together, we explore the quieter, more personal realities of entrepreneurship: our values, motivations, and challenges, the pressure and expectations, and what it means for us to find joy and fulfillment in building something new in the world.

I'm Sean Valle, the attorney behind Founding Well.

I prioritize a founder-first approach, ensuring every decision aligns with my clients' unique goals and values. I go beyond legal documents to help founders navigate the complexities of ownership, management, and scaling, while also addressing the personal and emotional demands of entrepreneurship.

As a bioengineer, policy analyst, and lawyer by training, I find joy and fulfillment in:

🌳 Empowering founders with clear, structured, and value-driven paths from founding to exit.

🌳 Building modern tools to streamline & optimize legal services and business processes.

🌳 Making the entrepreneurship journey more efficient, accessible, and enjoyable.

Prior to founding Valle Legal, I led complex fundraising, mergers, and acquisitions transactions for life science and technology companies at law firms of varying sizes, and I served as a policy analyst at the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues under the Obama Administration. I once worked in several genetics and bioengineering labs and even programmed yeast to produce raspberry scents.

Outside my legal practice, I enjoy writing and making music (I release songs under the stage name Tulip!), spending time alone in nature, and watching goofy ensemble sitcoms (“The Mick”, “Parks & Rec”, & “Workaholics”) or character-driven psych thrillers (“BEEF”, “White Lotus”, & “Taxi Driver”). I also run my own pet-related startup called Cotl (pronounced like “coddle”).
